My Coffee Addiction and the Keurig Brewing System
June 8, 2011 | Print | E-mail | Filed under coffee, Keurig, reviews & giveaways
I’ve been a coffee lover ever since high school when I had my first cappuccino made from a mix in the school cafeteria…and even though it wasn’t “real” coffee, it was enough to get me hooked. During college, my love of coffee became less about the taste and more about staying awake through many a late-night cramming session. While staying awake (usually) isn’t my main goal anymore, I’ve grown to love the taste of coffee even more, and especially the feeling of comfort I get when I’m holding a warm mug and inhaling its delightful fragrance. To me, my favorite part about my Keurig is that I can always have my coffee in the morning no matter how quickly I need to get out the door. No more waiting around for the coffee to be done – or worse, not having time to make any at all – I just pop in a K-Cup portion pack, brew my coffee, and I’m on my way. And, if I had to pick a second favorite part, it’s that all of their decaf varieties taste like regular coffee. I can’t tell you how many brands of decaf coffee I’ve tried and hated…that is until I came upon Green Mountain Coffee’s decaf breakfast blend. Now I can have my after-dinner cup of coffee and really enjoy it!
All that said, it should come as no surprise that when I was approached and asked to be a Keurig K-Cup Ambassador, I jumped at the opportunity. A chance to promote my favorite brewing system, and to experiment with recipes using tons of delicious flavors? I’m totally there. I’ll also be providing you with monthly promotion codes – you may have seen me post the first code on Facebook, but now I’m posting it here as well to make sure that you get a chance to use it before it expires in just a couple days on June 10th. The code AM0013-3596 will give you 15% off anything from the greenmountain.com store, as well as free standard shipping on your order. I’m eyeing their iced coffees myself…I’ve already been using my Keurig to make iced coffee like crazy lately, and I’m thinking that the french vanilla variety is a must-try!
What about you? Do you have a Keurig? What’s your favorite K-Cup portion pack?

I LOVE my Keurig too! It is such a great product, I was even able to get my 92 year old Grandma to use one in her home.(And trust me, it is no small feat to get a person of that age to try a new product!) She loves hers now too!
My favorite coffee right now is the VanHoutte Vanilla.
Now if I can just convince my employer that I need one on my desk!
P.S. I totally agree with the feeling of comfort (as I sit here hold mine:-)
Enjoy your Keurig adventures!

i just got 77 new pods delivered to me from Keurig yesterday, so many different brands and varieties. i had to try 2 last night and other this morning. FUN!! i have the small one, i kinda wish mine had the water resevoir but it’ll do. i put the pod in last night and this moring pushed a button and coffee in less than a minute. not too much variety in the stores in Calgary, AB so i had to order online.

We got a Keurig at my office and I love it. =) We have a nice selection of coffee and tea (though the hot chocolate and Chai latte mixes we tried were waaaay too sweet for our taste). Best of all, I’m in charge of the ordering! Which means I can pick the flavors I want. =)

That is a wonderful system. So worth the money.

I love my Keurig! It was totally worth the price. I used to buy my coffee in the cafeteria at work, since I rarely had time to brew a pot before sprinting out of the house. Now I have a fresh cup in one minute every morning. Plus, any of the yummy k-cups taste infinitely better than the cafeteria swill.
My favorites are any of the bold varieties. I have a subscription on Amazon to have them delivered bi-monthly, but I like to also buy some small packs of different k-cups to have a bit of variety.
Thanks for the discount code!

I have never used a Keurig, but it sounds like we should look into it when we’re ready to buy our next coffee brewer.

I love our Keurig coffee maker! Everyone who comes to visit thinks it is the best coffee maker. Since we bought ours we have convinced many in our family to buy one as well: my in-laws, mom and dad, sister and brother-in-law, and my husband’s grandparents. Needless to say we are a Keurig-loving family
P.S. Thank you for the coupon code!

FYI … you can go to keurig.com site and register your keurig brewer. The next day you will receive an email with a code number to receive 2 boxes of K-Cups when you order 2. You even get free shipping. I just did this today. Can’t wait until I receive mine in the mail.
Also, you can order sample packs of 5 to try some of the different flavors.
Enjoy!

I also have a keurig system and love love love it! I love that I can use regular coffee from the grocery store. I buy whole bean coffees from my local coop and grind and brew. It is way better than the pods!

I was hoping to get a Keurig for Christmas or my birthday but no luck. I am still waiting(anxiously). I may end up having to buy one for myself:).

You can make… iced coffee??? :O
I WANT ONE

Mine is only 6 months old and quit working, and I did love it. My favorite was the Emiril coffee – found at target.

I’ve actually been thinking about picking one of these up when I move into my new place. I love coffee too (and you’re sooo right about sitting with a warm mug!
) but rarely have the time or desire to make it in the morning. My only worry with this machine is when company comes over. Do you have a separate coffee machine as well? I can imagine burning through a lot of those k-cups for a larger group (especially with my family
).

I love my Keurig! My favorite flavor is the Donut Shop (maybe it’s house) Chocolate Glazed Donut. Oh yum.

I got a Keurig for Christmas and I am lost if I go a day without it! I love all of the flavored coffees, and am currently having a great time with the iced coffees because of this heat!
Thanks for sharing the code!

I always like to think that the Keurig brought us together and helped us be friends. I was full on addicted when you won yours at BSP last year, and I just had to “help” your addiction too. I’m glad you won that darn machine, Tracy. I’m so very glad we’re friends, and I hope you know how much I adore you!

Think about the more than 3 billion K cups tossed into trash every year. The packaging for a box of K cups at Costco far outweighs the coffee.

Jack – I understand your concern, and so does GMC. One of their top priorities is reducing the environmental impact of their packaging.
Also, you can always purchase one of the reusable K-cups, and use your own coffee!

these things rock! my hat is off to the person who invented this technology. makes an absolutely perfect cup of coffee unlike traditional drip machines that make stuff that tastes like bug spray. amazing how much better a high quality cup of joe tastes in the comfort of your own home – without having to deal with the angry tip entitled minimum wage making hipsters at starbux.
