Buttered Rosemary Rolls
April 22, 2010 | Print | E-mail | Filed under bread, rosemary
When I saw these rolls on Pioneer Woman’s blog, they immediately went on my to-make list. Unfortunately, it wasn’t immediately that I made them, because these rolls have become my new favorite dinner rolls. Yes, I’m a little obsessed with them. But that’s okay.
Anyway, since I haven’t found a fluffy, perfect pull-apart roll recipe that I love yet (don’t worry, I’m still working on it), I went ahead and bought the rolls Ree recommended: Rhode’s brand in the orange package. It’s nice that there are over 30 rolls in a package; I’ve made these rolls several times over the past month with different dinners and they’ve come out perfectly each time. You do have to wait at least 3 hours for them to rise, but you don’t have to do much else preparation-wise. Try them – you just might have a new favorite dinner roll, too!
Here’s the recipe, adapted from Ree:
- 9 frozen dinner rolls
- 2 Tbsp melted butter
- 2 Tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 Tbsp course sea salt
Spray an 8×8″ baking dish with cooking spray and place as many frozen rolls in the dish as you can fit, making sure to leave plenty of room for rising (I fit in 9 rolls). Let rise 3-5 hours. When the rolls are almost ready, melt the butter and chop up the rosemary.
When the rolls are ready, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Brush the rolls with the melted butter and sprinkle on the chopped rosemary and sea salt.
Bake 15-20 minutes or until the tops of the rolls are golden brown. Serve warm.

I love salt on top of bread, especially when it is big and chunky salt. Definitely want to try these, I wish I had one sitting with me at my desk right now. Of course, it wouldn’t be sitting there for long.

These look tasty. I have eyed them a few times at PW’s site too. Because lately I’m too stubborn to buy dinner rolls, mine would be a little more time consuming, but hey, that’s ok. My grandparents-in-law have 2 or 3 rosemary bushes that I’m constantly raiding. Yummy! Great photos too.

Funny, I read the recipe on Pioneer Woman, but I never noticed she used frozen dinner rolls. That’s so easy! Maybe I’ll try these tonight!
