Hummus

I’ve never actually had hummus before, but I’ve been really wanting to try it for a while. I figured it couldn’t be all that hard to make, and it isn’t! In fact, you only need a few ingredients.
Servings: 2
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds
- 1 (15.5 oz) can chick peas
- olive or vegetable oil
First, pour the sesame seeds into your food processor and grind them up as much as possible.
Add in some of the olive or vegetable oil a little at a time until you achieve the consistency of a paste, called tahini.
Then, add in the chick peas, and grind again.
Add more oil until you achieve the consistency of a thick spread:
You can also add in any flavoring you like, such as garlic or onion. Serve with pita chips, or actual pita bread. Yum – and full of protein and fiber!

I ? hummus!!! I have a recipe from Martha’s Everyday Food that I’ve used time and time again, but I’ve made my own tahini paste! I always buy it.

That ? is supposed to be a heart. I guess it doesn’t show up in wordpress! ;(

Haha, I don’t know why the heart didn’t show up. Weird!
What do you usually eat with your hummus? I’m trying to find creative ways to use it.

Looks delicious – I love making hummus
If you like roasted red pepper, try mixing in about 1/4 cup or so of roasted red pepper. It’s really yummy made in pita pockets with some fresh veggies and a little bit of fresh parm cheese

This looks like an easy, delicious version. I love to add a little tahini to mine for an extra layer of flavor.

Love homemade hummus. It always tastes so much better than store-bought.
