Happy Mum’s Day: Petits Fours

Finally, I finished the mother’s day treats: petits fours! Tiny, double-layer cherry chip cakes covered in poured fondant, each with a mum on top made of royal icing.
I baked them using a bite-size cake/brownie mold:
Once cooled, I cut off the tops to level the mini cakes. Then, for each petit four, I stuck two of the mini cakes together with pink icing:
I made the mums with pink royal icing ahead of time, and stuck them in the fridge to harden. And finally, last night, I made the poured fondant to cover the cakes with:
I stuck those in the fridge to harden as well, and then I used a bit of pink frosting to secure the mums to the tops:
Oh, and I tried one. I had to make sure they turned out well, of course.
Mmmm.
