Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

I saw this recipe on a friend’s blog, and just knew I had to try it.  It’s actually a Betty Crocker recipe (original can be found here), and it is oooh so good!

Also, the beautiful marble counter tops you will see in these pictures are not my own…I made these at my mother-in-law’s house in her fabulous new kitchen!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box Betty Crocker Original Supreme brownie mix with chocolate syrup pouch (I actually just used the regular fudge brownie mix, since my grocery store didn’t carry that particular prouct)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookie mix
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 egg

Now, the recipe also called for 1 container of Betty Crocker chocolate frosting, but I decided to make my own instead.  We’ll get to that later.

Here are the directions:

1.  Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Spray the bottom only of 13×9-inch pan with cooking spray. Make brownie mix as directed on box, using oil, water and 2 eggs. Spread in the pan.

2.  Make the cookie mix as directed on the pouch, using butter and 1 egg. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls evenly onto brownie batter; press down lightly.

3.  Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool on cooling rack 30 minutes. Then, frost with frosting.

Now, here is the recipe for chocolate buttercream frosting:

  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2-2/3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

Beat the butter in medium bowl, add powdered sugar and cocoa and beat until well blended.  Add milk, beat until well blended, and then beat in vanilla.

And here is a picture of the finished product.  Mmmm, so, so good.
