Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

I saw this recipe on a friend’s blog, and just knew I had to try it. It’s actually a Betty Crocker recipe (the original can be found here), and it is oooh so good! Also, the beautiful marble counter tops you will see in these pictures are not my own…I made these at my mother-in-law’s house in her fabulous new kitchen!
- 1 box brownie mix
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 eggs
- 1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) chocolate chip cookie mix
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 egg
For the chocolate buttercream frosting:
- 6 Tbsp butter, softened
- 2-2/3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Spray the bottom only of 13×9-inch pan with cooking spray. Make the brownie mix as directed on the box. Spread in the pan.
Make the cookie mix as directed on the pouch. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls evenly onto brownie batter; press down lightly.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool on cooling rack 30 minutes. Then, frost with frosting.
To make the frosting, beat the butter in medium bowl and add the powdered sugar and cocoa, beating until well blended. Add milk, beat until well blended, and then beat in the vanilla.
Here’s the finished product!
