Apples to Apple Crisp

This week, I really needed to start using up some of the apples we picked – I guess we got a little carried away! I didn’t have time to make another pie crust though, so I decided that apple crisp would be the perfect way to use them up and still bake a sweet treat. You’ll love the way your house smells while this is baking in the oven!
Servings: 9
- 5 medium Cortland apples, peeled
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 and 1/2 Tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
For the topping:
- 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
- 3 graham crackers, finely crushed
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut up the apples.
Mix the oats, crushed graham cracker, brown sugar, flour, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg until blended; set aside.
Mix the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large bowl. Add apples, toss to coat. Place in an 8 or 9-inch square baking dish.
Sprinkle with the oat topping.
Bake 35-40 minutes or until apples are tender.
Serve warm!
